“…Turning saints into the sea.”  The Killers couldn’t have explained it any better.

There are moments in one’s life when he feels this wretched emotion.  For a moment there, that person experiences internal agony.  It takes about 5 minutes for him to realize that this drowning feeling is but temporary.  What remains is the proof of his humanity.

Indeed, as the song puts it, even saints feel jealousy.  So how to deal with it?

Think about such things:

1.  Is it worth being jealous about?  You think the kids in Africa with flattened water bottles as slippers give a damn about this thing/person you’re being jealous of?

2. Is it so important to you that your life depends on it?  Because come to think of it, if they could just have what you had for lunch today, they’d feel all rich and mighty! (Not to mention, a shot at good nutrition and health.)

  • Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? (Matthew 6:25)
  • You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing (Psalm 145:16).

I feel much better! 🙂
